This workshop explores the links between sexual violence and the types of masculinist discourse circulating today in the media and digital space.
Intended for a student audience, the workshop was developed to be a turnkey solution that staff can facilitate directly on campus.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
- Understand the components of consent and sexual violence in order to grasp the impact of masculinist discourse
- Recognize what constitutes masculinist discourse
- Identify how masculinist discourse minimizes, excuses, legitimizes and fuels sexual violence
- Understand how rigid and violent forms of masculinity reinforce power dynamics and sexual violence
- Recognize that there are respectful, caring, and inclusive ways of being a man
- Identify myths that blame victims of sexual violence
- Identify myths that absolve those who commit sexual violence
- Understand that support resources exist within educational institutions and clarify their role
